Fast paced and growing B2B services company seeking qualified, driven, and energetic candidates to join the team as a Data Engineer focused on data collection, analysis, and insights. Company is actively engaged in the removal and repurposing of discarded ocean plastic pollution through an online marketplace with plastic resins and components sourced from around the globe. We need a candidate with hustle, scrappiness, and the desire to build vast data capabilities.

The Data Engineer will report directly to the CTO and will be responsible for designing our databases and managing our Track and Trace systems. The candidate will be required to work with the internal team to understand data and information tracking requirements and external teams to identify new data that will support the company’s objectives. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing data structures, building reports, and implementing automated data analysis solutions. The ideal candidate will also be working with our Oracle Blockchain Track and Trace implementation (no blockchain experience required) so must be able to work with external stakeholders to outline requirements, specifications, and coordinate integrations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement database changes based on ever changing business requirements
  • Work with suppliers to build data integrations for our Track and Trace Blockchain platform
  • Collaborate with partners at Oracle in the implementation of the Blockchain platform
  • Source, normalize, and analyze recycled plastic and sustainability data sets
  • Collaborate with our brand partners to collect and derive insights from their upstream supply data
  • Work with internal software engineer to align data capture/storage with application requirements

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 3-5 years of professional experience
  • Experience analyzing large data sets
  • Extensive experience with structured and unstructured data required
  • Comfortable working and negotiating with third parties to source data
  • Proficiency in database design and administration using MongoDB, and/or MySQL
  • Familiarity with Blockchain applications is a plus
  • Experience with Oracle Intelligent Track and Trace is a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working remotely
  • Off-hours calls may be required for consultation with partners in Europe and Asia
