How do I set up the app?
There are three primary steps to set up the app and they should only take you a few minutes: 1.) Establish your monthly spending cap. Once you enter this amount you will be required to approve the maximum monthly cost. 2.) You will need to establish the amount of plastic collection you want to fund per order. [Optional: you can establish a minimum spend threshold for the plastic collection] 3.) Go through the steps to set up the marketing tiles on your product pages and your cart page. This will help to communicate to your customers about your plastic collection initiative and how much plastic will be collected.
What exactly are we funding?
This is a great question. The plastic collection you fund, otherwise known as a "plastic offset," is at-risk plastic waste that is collected or diverted from the environment. To learn more about the importance of plastic collection and how it works click here.
Where is the plastic being collected?
Oceanworks funds collection partners globally. As of 2024, there is collection initiatives active in North America, Asia, and Africa. The vast majority of our collection occurs in our Ocean-Bound, Coastal, and Riverway Collection Areas.
Does it cost anything to install?
No! PlasticPledge by Oceanworks requires no upfront commitments. Once you activate the app, you only pay for the plastic collection connected to customer transactions. You choose the quantity and order thresholds.
How do I protect myself from overspending?
Don't worry, when you are setting up the app in your Shopify store, you establish a monthly spending cap. This ensures that the app turns off once the spending cap is reached. It will turn on at the beginning of the next billing cycle.
I've reached my monthly spending cap, how do I turn the app back on?
Once you've reached your spending cap, there are two options for turning plastic collection back on: 1.) You can increase (and approve) your monthly spending cap. 2.) You can wait until the beginning of the next billing cycle.
How much does plastic collection cost in the app?
1lb of plastic costs you $0.50. You can set this up for all orders, or establish a minimum spend for your customer to unlock the plastic collection. You choose how much you spend.
Why does my app status say "INACTIVE"?
By default when you install PlasticPledge by Oceanworks it will be inactive. For the app to be made active you must choose and approve a monthly spending cap and establish the collection trigger. Once these two steps are complete you should see the app status to change to "ACTIVE".
Why don't I see the marketing tiles in my theme editor?
If you're not seeing the PlasticPledge marketing tile "blocks" in your theme editor, check to make sure the theme you're using is a Shopify 2.0 theme. If not, this no-code functionality is not available. If you are, please reach out to use at email@example.com
